The Perfect Derma Peel

The Perfect Derma Peel is a safe, effective medium depth peel for all ethnicities and skin types.  This treatment is virtually painless, with no pre-peel skin preparation and little downtime.   The Perfect Derma Peel is the only peel that includes the powerful anti-oxidant Glutathione, which lightens and brightens the skin, slows down the aging process and helping prevent wrinkles.

What should I expect during my The Perfect Derma Peel treatment?

After screening for any conditions that could rule out treatment, the areas to be treated will be gently cleansed and prepped.  As the Perfect Derma Peel solution is applied to your skin, you may feel some slight stinging or burning, but most patients report minimal discomfort.  The Perfect Derma Peel is applied in layers to all treatment areas. You will be given a home care kit with instructions to follow for the next two days.  You will need to avoid direct sun exposure, especially for the first few days after your peel.  Most treatments take about 45-50 minutes, making this an ideal procedure for patients wanting a quick and effective way to rejuvenate their appearance.

How will my skin look after The Perfect Derma Peel treatment?

Most patients will experience some mild to moderate redness that may last for a day or two, and a “tight” feeling to their skin before it actually begins to peel.  Peeling usually begins by the third day, although drier, more sensitive types may begin to peel by the end of day 2.  Peeling usually begins around the mouth, then outward from the nose, cheeks, and forehead.  This can last from 2-7 days, depending on the individual.  Avoid excessive exercise or exposure to heat in the days after treatment, as that may cause stinging.  You may experience some acne breakouts, as the skin cells begin to turn over and congestion is purged from your skin.  It very important that you do not pick at your skin and use only the products in your kit for a few days after your treatment so that your skin can heal properly.  Most of these after-effects will resolve within a few days, but please contact our office if they do not.  A broad-spectrum sunscreen is required daily to protect your skin, as treated areas will be more sensitive to the sun.

How do I care for my skin after the treatment?

As your skin may be more sensitive to acne or anti-aging products after the Perfect Derma Peel, we recommend that you wait a minimum of a week after treatment to resume use of them, but you may need to wait longer.  A mild moisturizer and gentle cleanser are recommended to ensure that you don’t cause additional dryness or irritation as your skin is healing and repairing itself.  It is very important that you do NOT pick at or peel off any skin that is starting to flake or peel, as tempting as that may be.  And remember, broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher must be worn every day. Excessive sun exposure is discouraged during your series of treatments.  This will ensure you are protecting the investment you are making in your skin.
